Train the Upper GI (Gastroscopy) Trainer Course

For CT2s and ST3s in General Surgery

We are looking for trainees who would be willing to be taught gastroscopy by the delegates on this course. The course is designed to improve the training skills for those who teach gastroscopy. This is great opportunity to get one-to-one gastroscopy training. Trainees would need to have had minimal or no exposure to gastroscopy but plan to learn gastroscopy during their training. You would receive training on gastroscopy techniques and scope handling on models on 25th June and then have one-to-one training performing gastroscopy on patients for the whole of day 2 ( 26th June).

We would ask in return that you completely commit to the course as it would fall apart if the trainees did not turn up. We would also ask you to feedback on the trainer delegates' training ability (this is easier than it sounds - did you understand the terminology, did they understand your problems, could they explain how to overcome a problem etc etc). Feedback is very much part of the course culture.

The training/course is free, however we cannot cover your travel/accommodation costs.

Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and you would be expected to be available for both days. A sponsored course dinner will take place on the evening of the 25th in Cheltenham.

You will need to be provided with an honorary contract in order to practice at the Trust during that time. Once you have been accepted, prompt return of paperwork would be appreciated.
