Symposium on Surgical Education and Training (1:30p.m. to 6p.m.)

Overview

Hosted by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and the University of Bristol, this Symposium includes talks from prominent local surgeons on a wide range of surgical topics, as well gives surgical trainees an opportunity to present and discuss their work at the Trainees Research Forum. This Symposium will be followed by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s Regional Forum.

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's Regional Forum (6:30p.m. to 9p.m.)

Overview

The College is holding an evening event with the President Mr Ian Ritchie, Office Bearers, Council Members and your local Regional Surgical Adviser, Professor Davinder Sandhu.

The event is open to consultants, trainees, foundation doctors and students and is free to attend. Come along to find out more about the College and how it can be of assistance to you in your career.

The evening will begin with a talk from the President, Mr Ian Ritchie, followed by an opportunity to discuss professional issues and topics relating to the surgical profession and healthcare, such as:

  • 24/7 Consultant-led NHS services
  • Publishing surgical outcomes data
  • Shape of Training
  • Less than full-time / part-time working
  • Whistleblowing, undermining and bullying

Refreshments will be served afterwards, and there will be an opportunity for networking with speakers and attendees.
