Plastic Surgery for Surgical Trainees

For Core Surgery trainees and non-trainees. Of note: This course take place on the same day as Principles of Hip Fracture Management, which is a mandatory course for Core T&O trainees. The expectation for Core T&O trainees is that they attend the mandatory training day.

 

Overview

The course consists of a short program of lectures and then practical sessions on a variety of soft tissue reconstructive techniques and tendon repairs.

Includes:

  • Basic principles of knot tying
  • Instrument handling techniques
  • Principles of wound closure and suturing
  • Local skin flap reconstruction
  • Pig tendon repair with modified Kessler, Adelaide and mattress techniques
