For CT2 to ST8 surgical trainees with an interest in trauma.

 

Overview

A one-day hands-on practical trauma skills course. Features:

  • Expert military and civilian faculty
  • Small group hands-on practice using fresh animal and human tissue
  • State-of-the-art wet lab facility
  • Aimed at CT2 to ST8 trainees with an interest in trauma


Learning objectives-knowledge:

  • Damage control resuscitation & surgery
  • Role of the Trauma Team
  • Management of the critically ill trauma patient
  • Blunt & penetrating thoracic, abdominal & pelvic trauma


Learning objectives-practical skills

  • Thoracotomy
  • Cardiac & pulmonary injuries
  • Trauma laparotomy
  • Visceral rotation
  • Abdominal vascular and solid organ injuries
  • Temporary abdominal closure
