Overview
A one-day hands-on practical trauma skills course. Features:
- Expert military and civilian faculty
- Small group hands-on practice using fresh animal and human tissue
- State-of-the-art wet lab facility
- Aimed at CT2 to ST8 trainees with an interest in trauma
Learning objectives-knowledge:
- Damage control resuscitation & surgery
- Role of the Trauma Team
- Management of the critically ill trauma patient
- Blunt & penetrating thoracic, abdominal & pelvic trauma
Learning objectives-practical skills
- Thoracotomy
- Cardiac & pulmonary injuries
- Trauma laparotomy
- Visceral rotation
- Abdominal vascular and solid organ injuries
- Temporary abdominal closure
